The extra bonus comes from the capital gains tax that you would have had to pay if you sold the stock now or in the future. When you donate stocks directly to a 501(c)(3) non-profit, neither you nor the charity will have to pay capital gains tax on such investments. You can mail a check to QuickSilver Swimming, Attn: Fundraising, PO Box 36205, San Jose, CA 95118. If you drop a check in the mail, please email [email protected] to let us know it's coming. In the pandemic, the mail has been delayed, so we want to ensure we keep an eye out for donations.
